Sherrolyn Weed

Interim Pastor

The Story

Rev. Sherrolyn Weed was raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and was confirmed at her childhood church, Beulah Presbyterian where her parents were both elders. She did her undergraduate work at Westminster College in Wilmington, PA, and graduated with a degree in Spanish and Speech. Upon graduating, she moved to New Orleans and attended Lakeview Presbyterian, where she was ordained as an elder in 1984 until being called to study for the ministry at Louisville Presbyterian Seminary in 1996.

She served an associate pastor and pastor at several congregations in South Carolina, then she retired when she and her late husband, Paul, moved to Tennessee. However, Rev. Weed has remained very active in the Presbyterian Church, serving on councils and as an interim since 2010, most recently in Johnson City and Granbury.

She states, "I like the way our denomination is structured with most of the responsibility for decision falling upon the elected elders in the local congregations but with each congregation also beng connected to others within the Presbytery. This connection enables the congregations to maximize their ministry by combining their talents and gifts with the gifts of other congregations."
